The Republic of North Macedonia does not have sustainable policies in relation to its neighbors, he stated at a meeting of the general Council of the Democratic Union for Integration (DSI) Ali Ahmeti, the media in North Macedonia reported, BTA reported.
At the meeting held in Tetovo, Ali Ahmeti indicated that a change in the country's constitution is necessary “because all citizens benefit from it, to speed up the country's path to the EU”.
„Any stoppage along this path will have a very high price, as we have paid a high price (for the delay in solving the problems) with the Greek side. But with the Bulgarian side, the price can be higher. The number of citizens with Bulgarian citizenship is growing every day. If we do not take the necessary steps, it is possible that the EU membership package (where North Macedonia and Albania are together on the road) will be changed. Albania should start negotiations for EU membership, and we should lag behind. For Albania to become a member (of the EU), and for us to become a country of two peoples who have two different citizenships - Bulgarian and Albanian. The steps must be considered before speaking and acting," Ahmeti said, quoted by the website Focus.
The chairman of the DSI has again repeated the accusations of the DSI against the ruling VMRO-DPMNE and Hristian Mickoski that they “do not respect the legitimacy of the Albanian voters”, most of whom voted for the “European Front” and DUI, which is why they will “demonstrate their displeasure”.
Ahmeti has indicated that the “appetite for power” in a coalition of Albanian parties VLEN, which is a coalition partner of VMRO-DPMNE, has turned it into “servants of VMRO-DPMNE”.
On July 13, DSI will hold a new meeting with all party structures to discuss further steps, adds TV 21.
