The pilot of a Georgian Su-25 fighter-bomber died today after his plane crashed during a training flight, the Georgian Ministry of Defense reported, as quoted by AFP and BTA.
A Su-25 plane "crashed during a military exercise", the ministry announced, adding that an investigation had begun to establish the causes of the accident.
The Su-25 is a Soviet-era single-seat aircraft developed in the 1970s for ground attack and air support missions.
According to the database "Military Balance" Georgia had five Su-25s at the end of November 2023, plus two more grounded and unusable combat aircraft.
