The French go to the polls again for the second round of parliamentary elections - 1

The French go to the polls again today to vote in the second round of the early parliamentary elections called by President Emmanuel Macron . The first round on June 30 determined the extreme right "National Assembly" (NS) for the winner. If the direction is strengthened today, for the first time since the Second World War, the extreme right may return to power, noted AFP, quoted by BTA.

An answer is expected tonight as to whether the next prime minister will be the chairman of the National Assembly Jordan Bardela. The National Assembly warned that if it does not have an absolute majority, it will not head the next government.

Regardless of the outcome, observers expect difficult days ahead for President Emmanuel Macron, whose political power remained in third place in the first round in June. Macron is likely to face increasing resistance to undertaking legislative changes and larger policy initiatives. There are three years left until the end of his term, and next year the president will not be able to call new early elections for parliament.

The head of state called the current election, the second round of which in France is due today, after the poor showing of his political power in the MEP elections in early June. Many described this as a deliberate but big risk that did not produce the results Macron had hoped for.

It is expected that the first results will become known this evening after the end of the voting at 21.00 Bulgarian time in the big cities. Today, 501 out of a total of 577 parliamentary seats in the National Assembly will be allocated, and the rest were announced after the first election round.

The result of the French election will also be seen in light of the increased support for the far right in Europe, reported in last month's European Parliament elections. French voters' decisions are expected to reflect support for Ukraine, NATO activities, EU enlargement and the fate of migrants.
