A valuable find! Russian military studies a captured Storm Shadow missile - 1

Russia has managed to acquire the combat head of the British Storm Shadow cruise missile and is now studying it, writes the British newspaper The Times, referring to a video of the Russian state agency "RIA Novosti".

The video circulated by British media shows an engineer examining the intact warhead and describing it on camera.

As the post notes, an intact warhead may come from a missile that has failed or been shot down.

In the video, the Russian military engineer pointed to a gray metal object about the size of a small gas bottle and said it was the penetrating warhead of a Storm Shadow missile, also known by its French designation Scalp.

"The top is the cap, then the primary charge and then the main warhead. This is necessary for the initial penetration into the barrier," he explained and specified: "Due to the effect of the formed charge, holes are created in it, into which the inertial warhead penetrates and the explosion occurs."

RIA Novosti states that "the investigation of the missile by Russian specialists will allow countermeasures to be taken to protect against such weapons, including the creation of shelters with the necessary characteristics".

Earlier, Lt. Gen. Andrei Semenov, deputy commander of the Russian Aerospace Forces, said Russia was working to "immediately develop methods and adapt air defense systems to counter enemy missile strikes, as Ukrainian armed forces forces are increasingly using modern missile weapons produced by NATO countries".

He gave the example of the Storm Shadow, stating that they are "capable of stealthily approaching the target at minimum altitude with a terrain avoidance maneuver and making a precision approach to the target, correcting their trajectory via the US satellite navigation system and their allies".
