US President Joe Biden is not being treated for Parkinson's disease, the White House said, after reports emerged that a doctor specializing in the disease had visited the official residence of the US president eight times in the past year, Reuters reported, cited by BTA.
Fears that the president may be suffering from an undisclosed illness have intensified after Biden performed unconvincingly in his debate with Republican Donald Trump on June 27.
According to the "New York Times" White House visitor lists show that Dr. Kevin Canard, a neuroscientist who specializes in movement disorders and recently published an article on Parkinson's disease, visited the White House eight times between last summer and spring of this year.
During an attack-filled briefing, White House press secretary Karin Jean-Pierre declined to confirm Canard's visits, saying she wanted to respect the privacy of all those involved for security reasons.
She said Biden has seen a neurologist three times for his annual checkups and said the president is not being treated for Parkinson's.
