US President Joe Biden said the deadly Russian missile strikes in Ukraine, including on the main children's hospital in Kiev, are a "terrifying reminder of Russia's cruelty," reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.
Last night, Russia hit a hospital in Kiev with a missile in broad daylight and fired missiles at other cities in Ukraine, killing at least 41 civilians in the deadliest wave of airstrikes in months.
Biden added in his statement that Washington and its NATO allies will announce new measures this week to strengthen Ukraine's air defenses.
"Targeted attacks against civilians and objects that do not constitute a military objective could constitute war crimes and be classified as crimes against humanity,'' the European External Action Service spokesman said in a statement on the Russian attacks on a children's hospital and a maternity ward in Kyiv and the cities of Dnipro, Kriviy Rog and Pokrovsk, BNR reported.
The document reminds that these and other war crimes are the subject of an international investigation, including and the ICC. "Russian leaders, all commanders and perpetrators of these atrocities will be held accountable," the statement emphasized.
