Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orbán met with the former American Donald Trump, who fighting for re-election. The two have discussed "possibilities for peace" in Ukraine, Orban's spokesman announced, Reuters quoted BTA as saying.
The meeting took place at the Trump mansion "Mar-a-Lago" in Florida. That was the next stop of Orbán's peace mission, his spokesman said.
The nationalist leader, a longtime Trump supporter, made surprise visits to Kiev, Moscow and Beijing in the past two weeks on a self-proclaimed "peace mission," angering NATO allies. His meeting in Moscow with Russian President Vladimir Putin
in particular angered some other NATO members who said the trip legitimized Putin at a time when the West wanted to isolate him over his war in Ukraine.
Orban traveled to Kiev before his visit to Moscow, but did not tell Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky about his mission to Russia.
White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan, when asked about Orban's initiative, said Ukraine would be right to be concerned about any attempt to negotiate a peace deal without Kiev's participation.
