Trying to revive his re-election campaign, US President Joe Biden held a rally in Detroit, Michigan today, announcing to an excited crowd, that he will not give up the race and warned that the Republican candidate Donald Trump poses a serious threat, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.
Eighty-one-year-old Biden sought to deflect attention from his memory problems and show what another Trump term could bring, after the current US president's campaign suffered a major blow as a result of his lackluster performance in the pre-election debate on June 27.
"I remain a candidate and we will win,", Biden told the crowd, which chanted, "Don't give up!".
"I am the nominee", the president declared and added: "I will not go anywhere".
"It's time to stop treating politics like it's entertainment or a reality TV show,", Biden said.
Earlier today, Biden made a surprise stop at a restaurant in a western suburb of Detroit, where he assured customers he intended to "finish the job" and added: "I assure you /.../ I feel very well".
During the flight to Detroit, Biden's campaign spokesman, Michael Tyler, told reporters that donations to his campaign had "jumped" during the president's press conference Thursday night seven times from previous levels.
