Severing all ties with Moscow! The Baltic republics have cut themselves off from Russia's power grid - 1

Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania to are separated from the joint electricity transmission network with Russia and Belarus in February 2025. The companies that manage the electricity transmission networks of the three Baltic countries agreed on this, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

The agreement envisages that on February 8, 2025, the power grids of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania will be connected to that of Poland and separated from Russia and Belarus.

The three Baltic states were part of the former Soviet Union, which is why they are connected to Russia's power grid. The stability of their power grids depends on the rulers in Moscow, which the governments in Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius see as a risk to their countries' security, experts note.
