Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó said that work is underway to organize another high-level meeting for peace in Ukraine, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
"Efforts are being made to hold the next round of the peace conference this year - something that we will undoubtedly welcome and appreciate,", Szijjarto told RIA Novosti.
"I believe that if we want to hope for the success of any peace conference in the future, we will have to make sure that both sides (of the conflict) are represented," he added.
Russia was not invited to the first peace conference on Ukraine, which took place last month in Switzerland.
On Monday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he was preparing a second such meeting to be organized in November.
Hungary, which took over the rotating presidency of the EU Council for half a year at the beginning of this month, announced that it is trying to play a mediating role between Russia and Ukraine. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán visited Kiev, Moscow, Beijing and Washington successively on "peace missions", for which he was criticized by a number of Western countries, as they believed he was acting on his own.
