The Prime Ministers of Belgium, Alexandre de Croix, and Ukraine, Denis Shmigal, have signed an agreement to cooperate in efforts to restore the damage caused by the Russian military attack, Belgian media reported. The agreement was concluded at an online meeting and comes into effect today, BTA reports.

In the next four years, Belgium is expected to provide 150 million euros, which will be used mainly to restore the destroyed energy network in Kyiv and the surroundings of the Ukrainian capital. Shelters are also planned to be built in hospitals and schools to ensure the necessary evacuation in the event of an air raid. The media noted that Ukraine's power transmission system is Soviet-era, old and centralized, resulting in the complete loss of power and heating to hundreds of thousands of households when a major link is struck.

By the onset of winter, Ukraine will receive 20 million euros from the provided aid for the construction of new power generation capacities. It is expected that in the coming weeks, about 40 hospitals will be equipped with means for independent production of electricity.
