Chinese Communist Party Accepts Former Foreign Minister Qing Gan's Resignation - 1

Chinese Communist Party accepted former Foreign Minister Qing Gan's resignation from the Central Committee, Xinhua News Agency reported . This happened during an important meeting of the highest executive body of the party, quoted by News.bg.

The Central Committee announced that it had expelled former Defense Minister Li Shangfu as well as former Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Missile Forces Commander Li Yuchao for "serious disciplinary violations and the law", which is a euphemism for corruption.

Li Shanfu was expelled from the Communist Party last month on bribery charges as part of a sweeping anti-corruption crackdown that included two former defense ministers and nine top generals.

Qing Gan was suddenly sacked as foreign minister in July last year after just seven months in office and has not been seen in public since. Li Shanfu was removed as defense minister in October last year without explanation before being investigated for corruption.

These actions are part of China's ongoing anti-corruption campaign, which aims to purge the ranks of the People's Liberation Army and the state administration.
