Israel strikes key Houthi port in Yemen - 1

Israel confirmed it carried out airstrikes on the Yemeni port city of Hodeida on Saturday in response to attacks carried out by the Houthis. The Iran-linked group, which controls much of Yemen, has threatened to retaliate. The impact killed at least three people and injured 87 others.

This was reported by BTA.

The Israeli army announced that its fighter jets struck Houthi military targets in the Hodeidah port area in response to hundreds of attacks against the country in recent months, Reuters reported.

Israel has notified its allies in advance.

Earlier, the Houthis announced that Israeli airstrikes on oil facilities caused an unspecified number of casualties.

Today's attack sends a message, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant made it clear. He noted that the Houthis have carried out over 200 attacks against his country.

"The fire that is currently burning in Hodeidah is visible in the Middle East and the meaning is clear," Gallant stressed.

He pointed out that Israel struck the Houthis after they first caused casualties in Israel.

One person was killed and four injured in a long-range Iranian drone attack in central Tel Aviv early yesterday morning. The Houthis claimed responsibility for the attack, Reuters recalls.

Yesterday, Gallant vowed that Israel would take revenge.

The Houthis, in turn, threatened to respond to retaliatory Israeli strikes, AFP reported.

"The Zionist entity will pay a price for hitting civilian targets, and we will respond to escalation with escalation," said Mohammed al-Buhayti, a member of the group's political bureau, on his X social network account.
