New law in Romania. Alcohol, tobacco and energy drinks are products that will now only be purchased with an ID card.

The law requires vendors and staff in bars and restaurants to verify the age of customers. They must be over 18 years old. Those who do not comply with the new regulations risk fines between 10,000 lei (4,000 leva) and 30,000 lei (12,000 leva).
Until now, the law prohibited the sale of alcohol and cigarettes to minors, but the rule was not followed.
