North Korean Foreign Minister: The country wants to strengthen relations with Belarus **** Belarusian Foreign Minister M - 1

North Korea wants to strengthen relations with Belarus to "open a new era," North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son-hye said, Reuters reported, citing the state news agency KCTA, quoted by BTA.

Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Vladimirovich Ryzhenkov arrived in the North Korean capital yesterday at the invitation of the North's Foreign Ministry.

At a reception in Pyongyang, Choe stressed the need for a "comprehensive strengthening of relations" between the two countries to "open a new era", the agency added. Rizhenkov's visit will last until Friday.

Meanwhile, a delegation led by Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov left North Korea on Tuesday.

Both North Korea and Belarus are allies of Russia, which has been increasingly isolated diplomatically since the start of the invasion of Ukraine two years ago, according to Reuters.

Last year, Moscow transferred some of its tactical nuclear weapons to Belarus. It conducts joint military exercises with its neighbor, and last month it concluded a landmark pact with North Korea, which provides that the two countries can provide each other with military assistance if they are threatened by armed aggression.
