YouGov poll: Harris and Trump tied in swing states - 1

"US Vice President Kamala Harris managed to "reset" presidential race - she and former President Donald Trump now have an even number of votes in swing states. This is shown by a YouGov survey conducted for the CBS News TV channel, cited by Focus.

The results show Harris has a one percentage point lead nationally – something current President Joe Biden "never had". When he withdrew from the race, he trailed Trump by five percentage points.

At the same time, Trump maintains a significant lead among voters, arguing that they will be better off financially with him and that his policies will reduce the number of migrants at the border.

However, the percentage of Democrats who said they would "definitely vote" rose to their highest level this year, according to the survey. This reduces the "turnout gap" of the party which is observed throughout the campaign.

In addition, many more black voters now say they will vote than in July.

More generally, all of this suggests that elections may depend on turnout, especially marginal turnout – i.e. from those who do not always appear at the polls.

Specifically, among those who typically describe themselves as voting "sometimes" or "rarely" but say they would definitely vote now Harris is currently winning.

Harris also leads among women voters who believe she will protect their interests if elected. Far fewer women say that about Trump.

Voters generally believe that Trump will help the interests of men more than women.

In the swing states that determine the outcome of the election, the Democratic and Republican candidates now have an equal chance of winning. Polls show both candidates at 48% in Michigan, 50% in Pennsylvania and 49% in Arizona. Trump shows slight advantages in Wisconsin (50% for him, 49% for Harris), Georgia (50% and 47%) and North Carolina (50% and 47%). Harris has a slight lead over Trump in Nevada (50% to 48%)."
