Turkey significantly increases taxes on goods bought in abroad, the Turkish media reported, quoted by BTA.
The tax-free limit for goods bought outside the country and for their express delivery has been reduced from 150 to 30 euros. This is stated in a decree of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, published in the State Gazette (Resmi Gazete).
According to the document, which will enter into force in 15 days, the tax on goods bought by Turks in EU countries increases from 18 percent to 30 percent, the news site medyascope informs. Taxes on goods bought from other countries have been increased from 30 percent to 60 percent (ie 100 percent).
Turkey's Trade Minister Yomer Bolat indicated yesterday that the authorities are taking measures against the online shopping chain "Temu" (Temu) and other similar e-commerce platforms, local media reported.
