The advance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on the territory of Russia in the Kursk region could stop the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine to Europe, which continues throughout the period of the full-scale war, quoted by Focus.
As "Tsargrad" recalls, before this transit was carried out in two directions - through GIS Suja and through GIS Sokhranovka. However, in 2022, Ukraine's GTS refused to accept gas through Sokhranivka, as it is located on the territory of Luhansk Oblast.
After that, only GIS Suja remained in operation, pumping about 15 billion cubic meters of gas in transit through Ukraine to Europe.
With the outbreak of hostilities on the territory of the Kursk region, the question of the safety of this gas measuring station arises. The last transit point for Russian gas through Ukraine may stop working.
It is also noted that despite the sanctions, Europe continues to consume Russian gas delivered in transit through Ukraine.
