Moscow will target American media in response to the actions of the United States against the Russian media RT, the spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said today, reported "Reuters", quoted by BTA.
The US State Department filed money laundering charges last night against two employees of Russian state media outlet RT for what the department characterized as a scheme to hire a US company to produce online materials aimed at influencing the US presidential election in November.
Zakharova described this move as a "witch hunt" and stated that his purpose was to intimidate the American population.
"There will be a response against the actions of the US authorities that directly contradict their obligations to ensure free access to information and media pluralism," said Zakharova.
Moscow's measures could mirror those taken by Washington, or take a different form, the spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry added.
