A series of earthquakes with a magnitude between 4.5 and 4.9 on the Richter scale were registered by seismologists at a shallow depth in the water area of the Red Sea within two hours, according to a reference on the official website of the European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC), as cited by Focus.
The strongest earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9 was detected at 09:46 local time. Its epicenter was 260 kilometers west-southwest of the city of Abha in Saudi Arabia, with a population of over 210,000, and 236 kilometers southwest of Al Mayaridah. Its depth was 10 kilometers.
The earthquake was preceded by a 4.7-magnitude quake with roughly the same epicenter, and followed by another 4.5-magnitude quake.
