A landslide in central Mexico killed a small child and left several people trapped after crashing into houses, authorities said, dariknews.bg reported.
According to the civil protection service in the state of Mexico, part of the slope collapsed during the heavy rains in the municipality of Hilocingo near the capital.
“A landslide swept away eight houses, leaving 12 people under the rubble and, unfortunately, the loss of a three-month-old child,”, said social media platform X.
Emergency services, assisted by rescue dogs, freed three people who were taken to hospital, the statement said, adding that the search for other survivors was ongoing.
Landslides are common in Mexico, which regularly suffers from natural disasters such as earthquakes and hurricanes.
