The joint press conference between the President of Kazakhstan Kasim-Jomart Tokaev and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who is on an official visit to Astana, was canceled at the initiative of the Kazakh side, the DPA agency reports, as quoted by Focus.
"The initially planned joint press conference of Tokaev and Scholz was canceled by the Kazakh side shortly before it began. In Uzbekistan, the first stop of the chancellor's three-day trip, a joint appearance in front of the press was not planned from the beginning“, the publication writes.
As a result, Scholz appeared alone in front of reporters. When asked whether he was disappointed by the decision of the Kazakh side and whether he considered this step inhospitable, Scholz preferred not to answer, avoiding the topic, the press service of the German government reported.
Olaf Scholz is on an official visit to Kazakhstan. On September 16, he visited Uzbekistan.
