The Chinese military has raised fighter jets to monitor the passage of a P-8A patrol plane US Navy Poseidon over the Taiwan Strait. This was reported by the representative of the Eastern Zone Combat Command of the National Liberation Army of China (PLA), senior colonel Li Si, on the official account of the PLA in the WeChat messenger, reports TASS, quoted by BTA.
"On September 17, an American P-8A patrol plane defiantly flew over the Taiwan Strait. The Eastern Combat Zone of the PLA raised fighter jets to track and control the movement of the US aircraft and took measures in accordance with the law and regulations. The armed forces in the region always maintain high readiness, resolutely protect national sovereignty and security, as well as regional peace and stability," the release said.
