Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob recommended not to make hasty decisions amid German skepticism about Ukraine's use of Western long-range weapons on Russian territory, DPA reported, BTA reported.

On the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York yesterday, Golob stressed the importance of discussing all options and not pre-emptively excluding certain topics when asked about the use of long-range missiles that Western countries have provided or could provide to Ukraine.

Golob told DPA that it was better to discuss all options and choose the most appropriate one for the current situation. Germany and the United States have taken a cautious stance on the issue. Golob acknowledged that each country possessing such weapons "will make its own decision and we will try to respect that."

Slovenia, a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, currently holds the presidency of the Council. Ukraine has repeatedly called on its allies to allow the use of Western long-range missiles on targets deep inside Russia, DPA recalls.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has repeatedly ruled out supplying long-range precision weapons to Ukraine, regardless of decisions taken by other NATO allies. Scholz refuses to deliver the German Taurus missiles, which have a range of about 500 km, arguing that this would "lead to a high risk of escalation." Russian President Vladimir Putin has said he would accept the use of such weapons as a direct entry of NATO into the war.
