A Chinese woman was arrested in the German city of Leipzig on suspicion in developing activities as a foreign agent and is accused of passing on information about arms supplies, Reuters reported, citing the German Prosecutor General's Office, quoted by BTA.
Suspect Jaci H. has been charged with passing on information she received while working for a logistics company at Leipzig/Halle Airport. That information was passed on to a representative of China's secret services, who has also been charged separately, prosecutors said in a statement.
The information, which was passed on in 2023 and 2024, included data on flights, cargo and passengers, as well as details on the transport of military equipment and on people with links to a German arms company, it added the statement.
The Chinese embassy in Berlin has not yet responded to Reuters' request for comment.
Tensions between Berlin and Beijing have risen over the past year after Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced a strategy to de-risk Germany's economic relationship with China and called Beijing a "partner, competitor and systemic rival".
