The American actor and special representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry on humanitarian relations with the US, Steven Segal said he was ready to fight on the side of "his president" Vladimir Putin. His words were heard in Segal's documentary "In the name of justice", revealed "RIA Novosti".
The actor said that a day after the start of the military operation in Ukraine, he wrote a letter to Vladimir Putin and "made sure that it was very likely that it would reach the president" of Russia. Segal said he supported the Russian leader in the letter.
"I will be on the side of my president, I will fight on the side of my president and if I have to, I will die with my president," said the American actor.
Segal is a master of aikido and masters karate and other martial arts. He is known for his roles in action films from the 1980s and 1990s.
The actor has been regularly visiting Russia since 2013, and in 2016 he received a Russian passport. According to Segal, some of his ancestors came from Buryatia.
Two years after receiving Russian citizenship, the actor became a special representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In addition, he is a member of the party "Just Russia - for the truth".
At the end of May this year, Putin presented Segal with the Order of Friendship "for his great contribution to the development of international cultural and humanitarian cooperation".
