Dmitry Medvedev: Donald Trump cannot stop the war with Ukraine - 1

Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev is not convinced how feasible former US President Donald Trump's Ukraine settlement plan is. According to the Russian politician, Russian President Vladimir Putin may invite the American to agree to the surrender of Ukraine.

Medvedev, in his English-language X account, quoted the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Republican Mike Johnson. The American former president himself boasted that he would end the conflict in Ukraine in just a few days or even hours.

"And if Putin says: "Not now. Ukraine should capitulate and not join NATO," Medvedev asked.

We remind you that the USA will hold presidential elections in early November, and the Ukrainian conflict has become one of the topics of the campaign. Trump, the Republican nominee, has called the current Democratic administration's line of support for Ukraine wrong, and he also sees it as unprofitable for Washington.

During his campaign events, Trump repeatedly emphasized to potential voters his diplomatic skills and willingness to engage with all parties in favor of the United States. In particular, the candidate promised to resolve the Ukrainian conflict even before taking office if he won. Trump refused to give details of his peace plan.

The press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, defined as speculation the rumors that Trump could become a mediator in settling the conflict in Ukraine.

Moscow also denied claims by American journalist Bob Woodward that former US President Donald Trump spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin as many as seven times after he left office, reports "Reuters".

Asked if Putin and Trump had spoken on the phone, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov snapped: "No, not true.

Trump's campaign rejected Woodward's book and said its content was "fabricated".
