Nina Spasova on the separation of RSM and Albania for the EU: A huge slap for Skopje

Nina Spasova on the separation of RSM and Albania for the EU: A huge slap for Skopje - 1

Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mitskoski stated that there are eight times more Bulgarians in Albania than in North Macedonia. Meanwhile, the opposition in Skopje is demanding the resignation of Energy Minister Sanya Božinovska, as she “lied to the public and hid information about her Bulgarian citizenship”. "Despite her claims that she gave it up, not only she, but also her entire family have Bulgarian passports," the opposition claims. Against this backdrop, Brussels officially separated Albania from North Macedonia on their way to the EU.

„This is a huge slap for Skopje, although they pretend not to feel it, not to understand it. The moment it became clear that the two countries were separating, which is unprecedented, they continued to talk the same way they had been talking before it happened. With criticism of the EU, Mickoski exploded – in his typical style he attacked the European institutions and Bulgaria, of course”. This commented on “This morning“ the journalist Nina Spasova.
“Unfortunately, we are always attacked, without realizing that we are actually their closest friends. There are very few neighboring countries that get along with each other – without either having learned the language of the other. By reading the newspapers, we understand what they tell us. And instead of bringing us closer, it actually hinders us”, she commented.
„We are not their problem at all. In fact, they are the problem. Thank God, in 2022 we had the wisdom and our parliament voted on the "French proposal" in question, which turned our bilateral problems Sofia – Skopje is in a problem between North Macedonia and the EU, and the Macedonians should turn to the European institutions for everything, and not to Bulgaria, as it was before,”, Nina Spasova pointed out.

The leader of the largest Albanian party in the parliament of North Macedonia, Ali Ahmeti, spoke about the inclusion of Bulgarians in the Constitution – something that will also be asked of Europe – first, compliance with the agreements already reached and in the future to have equal treatment and equal treatment to all nationalities and nationalities that live in our western neighbor.

However, according to Nina Spasova, nothing puts pressure on the new Macedonian government, and they continue to move in the direction of the Moscow axis – Budapest – Belgrade, and now Skopje.
“The insistence of both the social democrats and the Albanian largest party does not hinder them. Interestingly, their ally, who is currently in the ruling Albanian coalition, which participates in governance with VMRO, wanted within 6 months for this change in the Constitution to be a fact, but now they say that this is not necessary, as they are waiting for changes in Bulgaria, which at the moment was politically unstable and they are waiting for a regular government”, the journalist pointed out.

Nina Spasova added that the Macedonians are again trying to talk about negotiations, negotiations and changes to the “French agreement”. And in Brussels they told Mickoski that this cannot be done, because the negotiation framework is a fact and everything has already been agreed. The first step for opening a serious dialogue with Skopje on the road to the EU is to make the difficult for them change to include Bulgarians among the minorities in the Constitution.
According to Nina Spasova, the data about the Bulgarians in North Macedonia are far from reality.

„Their problem is that if they really say how many Bulgarians there are, it will be too dangerous for North Macedonia, which is 2 million people, and half of them are Macedonians, half Albanians. If the Bulgarians also turn out to be a rather serious percentage, the Bulgarians there will have the rights of a minority,”, the journalist pointed out.

In her words, the political class has exacerbated the problems.
