Victory of Republican Donald Trump in this year's US presidential election would bring misery to the world. This was stated by the former Polish president Lech Walesa, quoted by the Associated Press, quoted by BTA.
Valenza noted that he usually does not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries, but this issue is too important for the world to hide his views.
„I deeply believe that Americans will vote responsibly. In my opinion, I am fully convinced that the election of Trump will be a misfortune for the United States and the world," Walesa stressed.
The 81-year-old former president played a historic role as the leader of the trade union "Solidarity" in the 1980s, when Poland was still under communist rule supported by the Soviet Union.
In 1983, Walesa received the Nobel Peace Prize for his defense of workers' rights and his efforts for broader universal freedoms. "Solidarity" played a decisive role in the peaceful transition to democracy in Poland and the collapse of communism in the region.
