On the Eastern Front! Meat grinder tactics work, Russian army advances at unprecedented pace - 1

The term " meat grinder“ has been widely used for Russia's military strategy in its campaign to take over the Donbass and the strategy - despite the huge loss of human life - is working, writes the British newspaper The Times.

Even taking this strategy into account, the scale of losses among Russians in the Donbass has become unprecedented in recent months. According to American intelligence, August and September were the bloodiest months since the beginning of the war, with over 1,200 Russians killed or wounded each day.

However, as suicidal as this strategy is, it is not without effect, notes The Times. According to the intelligence organization Black Bird Group, over the past two months, Russia has conquered territory at a rate not seen since 2022 – 511 square kilometers.

A paratrooper named Andrey from one of the airborne brigades defending the front line near Kurakhovo told the publication that 20 to 30 Russians were killed every day during combat operations at his company's positions.

"The people who are sent for these raids are not real combat units and are poorly trained. But they are still depleting our stock of ammunition and every time one of our guys is injured or killed,”, Andrey adds.

He says that sometimes Russian soldiers manage to sneak into Ukrainian territory and hide, then the military of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have to waste time to find and eliminate them.

"The purpose of all this is to drain our resources and distract us. It's rough, but it works. Two weeks ago, they managed to advance 500 meters“, he says.

Possible collaborators who could be among the local residents are also a danger.

"Almost all the locals I met support us, but we have to constantly move our positions because there are people who give coordinates to the Russians,” says Nazar Voytenkov, spokesman for the 79th Brigade.
