Russian soldiers treat Ukrainian prisoners absolutely normally and guarantee their life and safety.
This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin in an interview with VGTRK journalist Pavel Zarubin.
"There are prisoners among the Ukrainian military, there are people who surrender, and, of course, our guys take prisoners, guarantee their lives, safety, absolutely normal treatment,”, noted the Russian head of state.
In order to continue supplies of Russian gas to Europe through the territory of Ukraine, it is necessary to sign a new contract, Putin said.
In addition, the EU has certain rules in energy, the head of state recalled.
„Ukraine assumed obligations and joined European laws, and according to these rules it was necessary to reserve pumping capacity in advance,” Putin explained.
Russia, the president noted, has not refused gas supplies to Europe, there are several routes for this, two of which pass through the territory of Ukraine.
„This is the Sokhranovka GIS, which has long been closed by the Ukrainian side, but on the second line – where it is “Suja“ – there are still deliveries, but the contract ends at the end of this year. - summed up the Russian leader.
In May 2022, Ukraine stopped receiving gas for transit through the Sokhranovka GIS, citing the fact that it is under the control of the Russian military (on the territory of the LPR). As a result, only one entrance remained for the supply of blue fuel to Europe - GIS Suzha in the Kursk region. Gazprom stated that the transfer of all volumes to this station is technologically impossible.
The current transit agreement, which expires at the end of 2024, assumes that the guaranteed daily pumping volume (from both sides) from 2021 is 109.6 million cubic meters.
