Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wants to offer of the Palestinian extremist movement “Hamas” million dollars for each of the Israelis held hostage in Gaza, as well as for their safe evacuation to their families, DPA reported, citing Israeli government sources who confirmed earlier news about it from an Israeli television channel, quoted by BTA.
At the same time, in a conversation with DPA, the representative of “Hamas“ Taher al-Nonno described the proposal as a “farce” and said the hostages would only be released after an agreement that would end the war, lift the blockade of Gaza and allow the Strip to be restored.
Of the approximately 250 people abducted from Israel during the “Hamas“ attack on October 7 last year, around 100 are still being held in Gaza, although many are believed to be dead.
Their relatives accuse Netanyahu of blocking the deal for their release, while he himself accuses “Hamas” for his failure.
About 1,200 people were killed by Palestinian militants during the October 7 attack in southern Israel. In response, he launched airstrikes against Gaza and launched a ground operation in the enclave, killing tens of thousands of Palestinians and razing large swathes of its territory.
