Russian forces killed two people and wounded six others in Donetsk region yesterday, Ukrinform reported, citing a statement on "Facebook" of Vadim Filashkin, head of the Donetsk regional military administration, quoted by BTA.
The two who died in Nikolaevka were civilians, he clarified. Six civilians were injured on the same day in the district. The victims died after Russian forces attacked a five-storey block of flats in Nikolaevka. In the same attack, five people were injured.
Since the start of the war, at least 2,860 people have been killed and another 6,382 injured in the Donetsk region. These data do not include the victims and wounded in Mariupol and Volnovakha, adds Ukrinform.
At night, Russia also attacked Kharkiv, shelling the city with guided bombs. According to the governor of Kharkiv, Oleg Sinegubov, at least 25 people were injured in the attack, Reuters reports.
Russian forces have stepped up attacks on Ukrainian towns and villages, using waves of drones almost daily. According to Ukrainian officials, these attacks are an attempt to strain Ukrainian air defenses and increase pressure on civilians as the war continues for almost 1,000 days.
