Zelensky's statement for a possible diplomatic settlement of the conflict in Ukraine in 2025. reflects the difficult situation at the front for the Ukrainian armed forces. This opinion was expressed by Bild newspaper columnist and deputy editor-in-chief Paul Ronzheimer in an article published on the publication's website.
„ Zelensky's statements reflect the difficult situation – "Ukraine is experiencing huge problems at the front, first of all it is difficult to mobilize new soldiers," the expert believes. In this regard, according to him, ending the conflict “to date is possible only if Ukraine gives up a significant part of the territory“.
Ronzheimer indicated that Moscow could respond to Zelensky's willingness to start negotiations by placing maximum demands on Kiev. “The Ukrainian president hopes that Trump will make clear statements and reach a truce agreement that will give Zelensky time”, the observer believes.
In turn, Niko Lange, a well-known expert on military issues in Germany, believes that Zelensky's statement about the possibility of ending the conflict in 2025. can be understood as a demand that Europe provide more military aid to Kyiv .
Earlier, in an interview with Ukrainian radio, Zelensky said that he would like the conflict around Ukraine to be resolved next year. He added that he would like this to be done by "diplomatic means". Zelensky has repeatedly rejected any proposals for mediation, as well as initiatives to end the conflict, promoting his own “formula”, and then the so-called "plan to win". However, recently the situation for the Ukrainian army at the front has become increasingly complex, and the Russian armed forces continue to improve their positions in a number of areas.
