Valery Todorov: The conflict in Ukraine is only part of a domino that may fall - 1

We have overmilitarized thinking, acting and speaking, and moved to nuclear rhetoric &ndash ; nuclear strikes, nuclear weapons, it's like Stanislavski – as soon as there is a gun on the wall, it must go off. Let's not play with nuclear rhetoric, warned Valery Todorov, former correspondent of BNR, BNT and BTA in Moscow and former general director of BNR, in an interview with BNR.< /p>

In the show "12+3" he commented on 1000 days of the war in Ukraine.

According to him, there is speculation with the claims that the world is on the brink of World War III:

"But the truth is that the border is getting thinner, tensions are growing in other geographical points as well, and this, in the absence of universal security rules, creates areas with a strong deficit of trust and guarantees of appeasement.

Todorov warned that "the conflict in Ukraine is only part of a domino that may fall and at some point cause a chain of conflicts that would give reason to talk about the prerequisites for the Third World War" ;.

He pointed out that the conflict in Ukraine is escalating, every pretext is being used to seek a new escalation and mutual blackmail is going on, and there is no trust.

"In practice, an interesting syndrome appears, close to Stockholm – it is clear, Russia is the aggressor, and on the other hand – the whole West is working to support Ukraine. Russia is becoming a victim of a conspiracy and you see how in certain circles of different countries people appear who sympathize with Russia as a victim. This Russophobia that developed and mixed the politics, the people, the attitude, even the Russian opposition felt betrayed because everything Russian became bad and satanic. Instead of implementing a differentiated policy, a global variant of negation of everything that could bear the signs of Russianness, including culture, appeared. I think that, albeit slowly, we are pushing away from this option", the journalist analyzed.

He believes that the expectations that the administration of the Republicans in the USA can change a lot are exaggerated. And he pointed out that these 2 months, when power is being handed over in the USA, are a risky period and there are hypotheses for increasingly gloomy scenarios.

"There will be a realignment of security expectation. In the Middle East, there are signs of calming down, and in Ukraine, the situation is at both poles of expectations and actions, both on the part of Russia and the Western world," Valery Todorov said.

He commented on the options for negotiations, the options, as well as the presence of foreign military mercenaries on the territory of Russia and Ukraine and the designation of demilitarized zones.

"We must move towards conditions for negotiations and a truce. The excessive ambition of the Ukrainian president, who sees the defense of Ukraine in a total war with Russia, does not allow for calm decisions," Todorov believes.
