Yemen's Houthi rebels have launched an attack on a “vital target” in the central part of Israel using a hypersonic missile, the group's military spokesman, Yahya Sareya, said today in a televised address, reports Reuters, as quoted by BTA.
The Israeli Armed Forces confirmed earlier today that a projectile fired from Yemen was successfully intercepted before it reached the country's territory.
„The projectile was neutralized in the air and did not pose an immediate threat to Israeli citizens,” specified the military.
This is not the first attack by the Houthis against Israel. Since the start of the Gaza conflict in 2023, the group has repeatedly fired rockets and drones at Israeli territory.
„These actions are an expression of solidarity with the Palestinian people,” the Houthis claim in their statements.
The Houthi military operation and ongoing attacks underscore escalating tensions in the region, adding a new dimension to the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian territories. The Israel Defense Forces remain alert for future threats.
