In Poland on the morning of December 1, there was a leak from the Druzhba oil pipeline.
This was announced by the spokesman of the Polish State Fire Service, Martin Halas, writes Wiadomosci.
The incident happened near the city of Poznan in western Poland. Pipeline operator PERN confirmed there was a leak and the pipeline was shut down.
Rescuers noted that there was no danger of fire or explosion due to the leak.
TVN24 reports that this section of the pipeline is used to connect PERN's raw materials base near Plock (a city in central Poland, near Warsaw) and two refineries in Germany.
This is part of the northern branch of the "Druzhba": the pipeline branches off at Mozyr in Belarus, with the southern branch going to Ukraine, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, and the northern branch to Poland and Germany. The transfer of oil from Russia through the northern branch has been stopped due to EU sanctions, while the southern route is still operating.
The northern branch of the "Druzhba" oil pipeline transports Kazakh oil to Germany from February 2023. with a capacity of 2 million barrel of oil per day. Several times there have been threats to stop supplies: as reported by "Reuters" in the spring, this can happen because of the "dead end" with the payments and fears of violating Western sanctions.
Last year in August, damage was discovered in one of the sections of "Druzhba" in central Poland. For this reason, pumping had to be stopped as well, and the repair of the damage took about two days.
