Candidate for the president of Romania Calin Georgescu said , that the administration of US President Joe Biden is trying to involve the country in the conflict in Ukraine.
On Friday, Romania's Constitutional Court annulled the first round of elections after reviewing complaints from civil society organizations, presidential candidates and government agencies about campaign violations. Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Călăcu has already welcomed the decision of the Constitutional Court, defining it as correct.
„The reason for the cancellation of the presidential election in Romania was the fact that the administration of outgoing President Biden sought to use Bucharest as a tool to continue the conflict in Ukraine, trying to draw Romania into the war,” Georgescu said on Saturday in the evening on Realitatea TV.
He added that the current president of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, is leading the country to war, acting in the interest of the Western allies.
In Romania, the presidential elections were held on November 24. In the canceled first round, independent candidate Georgescu, who campaigned on TikTok, took first place with 22.94% of the vote. Elena Lasconi, who supports the partnership with NATO and the USA, had 19.18% of the votes.
