In 2024 Poland has signed contracts for the purchase of weapons worth more than 120 billion zlotys (about 30 billion USD).
"We have already signed contracts, the total value of which exceeds 120 billion zlotys," said the deputy head of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic Pavel Beyda in an interview with the portal Defence24 . The Polish Ministry of Defense is preparing to sign several more contracts by the end of the year, most of which will concern orders from enterprises of the local military-industrial complex, he added.
According to the statements of the Polish leadership, Poland has become the leader in NATO in terms of defense spending based on its share in the national GDP. In 2024 the authorities of the republic allocated 158 billion zlotys ($40.7 billion) for these purposes, which is equal to 4.2% of the country's GDP. In 2025 Poland is preparing to spend 186 billion zlotys ($47.7 billion), or 4.7 percent of GDP, on the military. A significant part of the costs consists of costs for the technical modernization of the armed forces.
