Kremlin: The war in Ukraine will continue until the goals set by Putin are not achieved - 1

The war in Ukraine will continue, until the goals set by President Vladimir Putin are achieved through military action or negotiations, Reuters reported, citing a Kremlin statement, BTA reports.

Among the conditions set by Russia is that Ukraine abandon its ambitions for NATO membership and withdraw completely from the four areas that Moscow has unilaterally declared as Russian territory. Kyiv categorically rejects these demands as tantamount to capitulation.

„The special military operation (the term used by Moscow for the war in Ukraine – ed.) will end when all the goals set by the president and the commander-in-chief are achieved,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists.

He added that “these goals can be achieved as a result of the special military operation or through relevant negotiations”.

Peskov emphasized that there are currently no negotiations between Moscow and Kiev, as “the Ukrainian side refuses any talks”.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called for a diplomatic solution to the conflict. He raised the idea of deploying foreign troops in Ukraine to ensure the country's security until it becomes a full member of NATO, notes Reuters.
