Russia has transported Bashar Assad in a safe way, who was ousted as Syria's president in a flash rebel offensive.
This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the country Sergey Ryabkov in an interview with NBC News, quoted by NOVA.
„He is secured and this shows that Russia is acting according to the requirements in such an emergency situation”, explained Ryabkov.
When asked if Moscow would hand over Assad for trial, the deputy minister replied: “Russia is not a party to the convention that established the International Criminal Court.“
Meanwhile, Syria's new prime minister, Mohammed al-Bashir, who will lead the country during the transition period, promised stability and calm to the Syrian people, exhausted by more than 13 years of war.
