Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stressed that the invitation to join NATO should cover the entire territory of Ukraine, including its internationally recognized borders, quoted by BTA.
In an interview with the American television channel CBN News, he said that such an action would strengthen Ukraine's position in the conflict with Russia.
Gradual application of NATO norms
Zelensky suggested that although the invitation would be extended to all of Ukraine, the Alliance's norms and mechanisms could initially be applied only to territories under the control of the Ukrainian government. According to him, if the occupied territories are returned to Kiev, NATO will be able to expand its action on them.
The strategic context of the invitation
Ukraine insists on accelerated accession to NATO, which would provide additional guarantees for the country's security. Zelensky stressed that this process is key to restoring peace and protecting Ukraine's internationally recognized borders.
