Leaders of G7 countries have expressed readiness to support a transition process , to lead to credible, inclusive and secular governance in Syria, the group said in a statement quoted by Reuters.
The political transition after the end of Bashar al-Assad's 24-year authoritarian rule must ensure "respect for the rule of law, universal human rights, including women's rights, the protection of all Syrians, religious and ethnic minorities, transparency and accountability." ;, is emphasized in the statement.
"The G7 will work with and fully support a future Syrian government that meets these standards and results from this process," add the leaders.
In addition, the G7 calls on all countries to respect the territorial integrity and national unity of Syria, as well as its independence and sovereignty.
