“The“Exchange“ of Donbass and Novorossiya for Ukraine's membership in NATO cannot be a condition for a peace agreement with the Russian Federation; these lands have never belonged to Ukraine. This was stated by the governor of the Kherson region Volodymyr Saldo in an interview with TASS.
“This is an information and propaganda trick. Ukraine will give up its territory. What does it mean, to give up? This is not its territory, but they are constantly trying to present that it will have to give it up. This is the historical territory of Russia“, said the head of the Kherson region.
Saldo added that he considers the unification of the Donbas and Novorossiya regions with Russia to be "restoration of historical justice".
“Now the situation has developed in such a way that this land has returned to where it was. And therefore this cannot serve as a condition for negotiations at all“, the governor emphasized.
The Ukrainian authorities have repeatedly stated their desire for the country to become a member of NATO in the near future.
