A South Korean court has issued an arrest warrant for ousted President Yun Suk-yeol over his failed attempt to impose martial law, Yonhap and Agence France-Presse reported, quoted by BTA.

"The arrest warrant and search warrant targeting President Yun Suk-yeol were issued this morning," the agency leading the investigation into the case said in a statement.

According to Yonhap, the Seoul Western District Court issued the warrant against Yun on charges of leading the failed declaration of martial law on December 3, organizing a rebellion and abusing power.

However, it is unclear whether investigators can ensure compliance with the order, the South Korean agency notes, recalling that the president's security prevented investigators from carrying out ordered searches, citing concerns related to military security.

Yoon has immunity from criminal cases, but this does not extend to cases of treason or rebellion.
