Since November 2024, Elon Musk has been living permanently in one of the villas offered for rent at the US president-elect Donald Trump's mansion in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, the New York Times reports.

According to sources of the publication, Musk, who is one of Trump's closest associates, has been living "a few hundred meters" from politics almost immediately after the Republican's victory in the presidential elections. This allows Musk to easily interact with Trump personally, including having dinner with him.

Musk, who the newspaper claims has donated about a quarter of a billion dollars to Trump's election campaign, periodically attends the Republican's talks with foreign leaders and spends dozens of hours with him.

As the newspaper notes, the villa where Musk settled has been used several times to accommodate Trump's friends and business partners. Republican Mike Johnson, who is currently the Speaker of the House of Representatives, has also stayed there. It is not yet clear how much Musk will pay Trump to rent the villa, but the publication notes that in principle its price is $ 2 thousand per day.

The publication suggests that after Trump takes office, Musk, who together with businessman Vivek Ramaswamy will head the department for increasing government efficiency and combating bureaucracy in the new administration, will no longer be able to communicate directly with the Republican so often and have such a great influence on policy.

The current US President, Democrat Joe Biden, will hand over the powers of head of state to Republican Trump on January 20, 2025.
