The ruling coalition in Slovakia will discuss retaliatory measures against Ukraine after Kiev's decision to suspend Russian gas transit from January 1. This was announced by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, Reuters reports, quoted by BNR.

In a video message posted on Facebook, Fico indicated that his SMER party is considering stopping electricity supplies to Ukraine, reducing aid to Ukrainian refugees and demanding compensation for losses resulting from the shutdown of Russian gas.

Ukrainian company "Naftogaz" refused to extend its 5-year contract with "Gazprom" for the transit of Russian natural gas to European consumers after it expired on December 31.
