Germany: Borders should not be changed by force - 1

Germany said it takes note of US President Donald Trump's statements on Greenland and Canada and stressed that it supports the international principle of the inviolability of borders, "Reuters" reported, quoted by BTA.

"As always, the principles enshrined in the UN Charter and the Helsinki Accords, which require that borders not be changed by force, must be applied," a German government spokesman said during a regular briefing.

When asked how seriously Germany took Trump's statements, the spokesman declined to comment.

Yesterday, President Trump did not rule out the possibility of using military or economic means to achieve the potential acquisition of the Panama Canal and Greenland. He also speculated on the idea of turning Canada into a US state, "Reuters" recalls.

Trump's statements provoked serious reactions, while Germany and other countries in Europe emphasize the preservation of international norms and stability.
