German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that he does not expect the newly elected US President Donald Trump to stop military aid to Ukraine after his official inauguration on January 20. Scholz made this statement during a meeting with journalists in Berlin, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
According to Scholz, after the elections he had two conversations with Trump, and between Germany and the United States there continues to be "intensive" diplomatic dialogue.
“Therefore, we can hope that the good cooperation between Europe and the United States will remain effective in the future, including on the issue of support for Ukraine“, the German leader expressed confidence.
Sholz also stressed that he sees no possibility of ending American military and humanitarian support for Kiev: “Therefore, I do not expect the United States to stop supporting Ukraine in its defense.“
