Fidan: Turkey hopes for permanent ceasefire in Gaza - 1

Turkey welcomes the ceasefire agreements in the Gaza Strip reached between the radical Palestinian movement Hamas and Israel and expects it to become permanent. This was stated by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Baku after talks with his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov. The broadcast was carried out on the Turkish Ministry's social network X.

„We are satisfied with the ceasefire agreements in Gaza and will strive to make it permanent. We count on the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza. At the same time, the rapid return of Palestinians to the region is important. "We hope this will happen as soon as possible," Fidan said, noting that this concerns about 2 million Gazans who were forced to leave.

He also said that Turkey would continue to provide humanitarian aid to Gaza and reiterated the need to resolve the Palestinian issue on the basis of two states. Ankara has previously said that peace in the Middle East is possible only if an independent Palestinian state is established within the 1967 borders with its capital in East Jerusalem.
